Board Member Sought for Momentum Scotland
Momentum Scotland is a company limited by guarantee registered in Scotland, it forms part of the Rehab Group, an independent international group of charities and supported businesses, which provides training, employment, health and social care, and employment services to over 80,000 people each year. The Rehab Group has a significant presence in Ireland, England, Wales and Scotland and activity in Poland and Saudi Arabia.
Momentum’s services help a wide range of people, including those with a brain injury, spinal injury, mental health difficulty, physical or learning disability, in the areas of employment and training, job retention and community rehabilitation. The organisation also provides social care and supported living services to people in their own homes.
We are looking for a new Board member who can help us shape our future.
Ideally you will be able to bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Board from your own career and life experiences and will have:
• A relevant professional background and/or experience in the field of non-profit governance and risk management for charities, health and social care, education and training and/or sensitivity to the life experience of people with physical, sensory or intellectual disabilities, mental health difficulties or social disadvantage;
• Experience of working in Scotland and an understanding of the legal environment. Knowledge and experience of the different directions that Scotland and England/Wales are taking on social and health policy and practice; and
• Able to communicate confidently, persuasively and inclusively.
The time commitment for this role would be approximately eight days per annum and Board meetings take place at our office in Glasgow.
Although the role is unpaid, we can meet reasonable expenses incurred by the director in the context of their service to the Board. In return, we are offering an opportunity to play a vital role in a progressive and forward thinking organisation, which makes a real difference to people’s lives.
