Pedal For Scotland Success
A huge congratulation to three fantastic fundraisers! Father and son due Gary and Ronnie Milne, As well as a good friend of the duo Bill Cowie, all took part in the tough Pedal for Scotland 55mile cycle from Glasgow to Edinburgh on Sunday the 11th of September.
The father and son due decided to start fundraising for Momentum as the charity has a great deal of meaning to them. Gary has previously had mental health problems, which Momentum had supported him with through their Social Group programme.
‘ I want to do this challenge as I have suffered from mental health issues and I know first-hand what people are going through with their various illnesses. I know that a huge part of the recovery process is all about getting out and about and having the confidence to reintegrate in to society and motivation is a big factor.’
This is where Momentum provided Gary with the support and tools to get back into society through the Social Group which is ran from there centre in Aberdeen, a service that Gary now leads.
‘Through working alongside the people in the social group, ran by Momentum in Aberdeen, I have seen they are really a great bunch of people and they deserve the best support that we can offer.’ – Gary.
The Social Group has become a family affair with Gary’s dad, Ronnie driving the minibus for the group which means they can get out and about with ease.
The team have so far successfully raised over £1,300.00 with their donation page remaining open for last minute decisions over the next few weeks.
On the big day the team was cheered on by all the staff from our Aberdeen center as well as family and friends to celebrate there 55mile victory.
