Social Firm Haven Moves to Clydebank
Award-winning social firm Haven has announced that it will move its packaging operations to Clydebank in August following the purchase of a 34,000 sq ft factory previously owned by Remploy. The move will facilitate the expansion of Haven’s packaging operations and potentially create further job opportunities for disabled and disadvantaged people.
Haven, which is the commercial division of national not-for-profit organisation Momentum, has been at its current 20,000sq ft factory in Hillington since 2004. All 84 of its existing employees will transfer to Clydebank.
The move comes at a time of rapid growth for Haven, which now offers a wide range of services to public and private sector companies across its various businesses, employing 220 people, of which 90% have a disability.
The current Hillington operation provides packaging and fulfilment services to businesses who outsource elements of their production processes. This includes, for example, premium packaging assembly for Edrington, makers of famous brands such as The Macallan, Highland Park and The Famous Grouse.
Haven also has a recycling arm based in Glasgow, Haven Recycle, which offers waste electrical and electronic recycling (WEEE). At the end of 2013, Haven also acquired document scanning business Redrock which has sites in Wigan and Porth. In addition, Haven launched its new manufacturing arm, Haven PTS, in Stirling earlier this year and is a major supplier of nurse uniforms to the NHS.
West Dunbartonshire Council’s Economic Development team has been working closely with Haven since January 2014 assisting the firm with its relocation to the former Remploy facility in Clydebank.
The Council’s Business Support team has provided £40,000 of funding to support the company to establish its Clydebank presence. The additional support provided from employability, planning and estates all contributed to Haven deciding to become part of the West Dunbartonshire community. Economic development also provided advice and guidance with procurement on opportunities to secure new business contracts.

“As a Council we are committed to creating and encouraging employment opportunities not least among our most disadvantaged residents. Ninety per cent of Haven's highly skilled workforce are disabled which demonstrates this firm’s inclusive approach to recruiting staff.”
